Mathieu Roy (“Roy”) claimed insurance benefits from his mortgage insurance provider, Desjardins Sécurité Financière (“Desjardins”).

The Facts

In September 2014, Roy purchased his first home. For this purpose, he went to Caisse populaire St-Antoine des Laurentides to get preapproved for a mortgage in hopes of making an offer to purchase. The Caisse representative provided him with a mortgage insurance form to be signed by Roy and, eventually, by his spouse.
