Amendments to the Yukon Fatal Accidents Act

Recently the Yukon Government has amended the Fatal Accidents Act in the Yukon with these new provisions coming into force April 24th, 2014.  Of note, the amendments add claims for bereavement, which would replace any Court’s quantification of awards for loss of care, guidance and companionship.  Prior to the date of coming into force, the old Rules would apply to quantify such claims on a subjective basis.
