General Liability and Property Insurance
The members of the firm act for a large number of personal lines and commercial lines carriers on liability claims arising from the risks associated with the occupancy of premises and conducting business. The firm has enjoyed success in defending fraudulent first party claims involving theft and arson.
The firm has acted for the members of the medical profession faced with liability claims for more than 20 years. In addition, members of the firm act for the architects, engineers, land surveyors, insurance brokers, life underwriters, chiropractors, real estate agents, chartered accountants, lawyers and others in connection with professional liability claims.
Even though Saskatchewan is a public insurer/”no fault jurisdiction,” the firm continues to do a significant amount of automobile-related claims including economic loss claims in excess of the no-fault coverage, S.E.F. 44 claims and claims on behalf of out-of-province motorists who are subject to subrogated claims for recovery of no-fault benefits.
In addition to its work on behalf of construction professionals, the firm has also done work arising from construction disputes. Members of the firm have acted on COC issues, “wrap up” policy liability disputes, bonding problems, boiler and machinery claims and related coverage work.
The firm acts for manufacturers and distributors of various products in the defence of bodily injury claims. The firm has developed particular expertise in the defence of claims against suppliers to the agricultural industry, notably equipment manufacturers and chemical suppliers.
Members of the firm have been retained on aircraft claims, involving both first party and third party liability losses.
Life and Disability Claims
The firm assists and represents insurers with coverage issues and claims relating to travel and health, death, dismemberment and disability. The expertise of our lawyers also extends into the area of health law, which assists in their ability to analyze and understand complex medical issues.
Our insurance group routinely provides opinions to insurers on a full range coverage issues. We also have considerable experience in the areas of Directors and Officers liability, Employment Practices Liability, Boiler and Machinery and Environmental claims.
